Keloid Removal

A keloid is formed when the scar from an injury grows beyond the boundary of the original wound. Keloids can grow very large, be disfiguring and be of cosmetic concern to individuals. They usually occur as the wound is healing but can take months to years after the injury to occur. Various treatment modalities are available including surgical removal to restore skin to its original form.

Scar Revision

Scars occur following injury or surgical wounds, these scars may sometimes be unsightly or disfiguring as a result of poor healing. Scar revision is any procedure carried out to make scars look more appealing and cause less disruption to function.

Cleft Lip and Palate

These are openings in the lip and roof of the mouth of an individual. These defects are present from birth and cause problems like poor feeding and breathing difficulties. Reconstructive surgery is carried out to repair the defects and ensure the child has normal appearance of the face, lip and nose with normal speech and dentition. SURGERY FOR THIS IS FREE.

Hemangioma

This is a bright red birthmark usually seen at birth or within the first 2 weeks of life. It is made of extra blood vessels in the skin. Usually this birthmarks swell and regress on their own after a couple of years but in some cases the swellings remain and cause discomfort. They are also at a risk of bleeding. Treatment can either be medical or surgical.

Breast Reduction

Procedure to remove excess fat, tissue and skin from the breasts. It is usually done in women with large breasts to ease discomfort or a breast size that is proportionate to their body. It may also help improve self-image and ability to participate in physical activities.

Post Cancer Breast Reconstruction

Treatment of breast cancer involves chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Although the surgery is important for breast cancer management it may lead to formation of disfiguring scars with the absence of the breast. Reconstructive surgery can be carried out to correct scars and create new natural looking breasts.

Birth Defects to Hands and Feet

Some babies are born with limb defects including absence of limbs, fingers or toes, increased or decreased number of fingers or toes etc. Some of these can be corrected while others can be managed in order to give the child the best quality of life.

Hand Injuries

The hand is one of the complex parts of the body. As a result of this, injuries to the hand regardless of how minor they seem may affect the function of the hand. Injuries include fractures, vessel or nerve injury. Treatment depends on type and mode of injury.

Wrist Problems

Problems with the wrist are becoming more common especially in this era of smartphones and computer based work environments. These problems include carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion and De quervain’s tenosynovitis etc. Although some cases resolve with home remedies and use of painkillers, others may require specialist care.

Lipoma Excision

A lipoma is a swelling under the skin which is as a result of overgrowth of fat cells. It is usually harmless but may cause discomfort to some individuals. Surgical removal of a lipoma can be done. A thorough assessment by a doctor is needed before the diagnosis of lipoma is made.

Trigger Finger

This occurs when a finger is initially stuck in a bent position before it returns to straight or normal position with a snap. It is called trigger finger because the sound of the “snap” is similar to sound of a trigger. It is as a result of inflammation (pain and swelling) of the tendon of the affected finger. Treatment is determined by a specialist.

Outpatient Wound Care

Wound care is very important to prevent infection, non-healing or abnormal healing and loss of function of the affected body part. Proper wound care should be done by healthcare professionals under sterile conditions.
